When the demon-in-disguise started with the punching, I thought she was a human who had been suppressing violent urges her whole life
Honestly, I would have found that more interesting. Of course, this allowed them to change Chidi's status but I'm not sure if that would have changed what they'd do with him.
I'm assuming that Eleanor pulled out the soulmates thing because she knows how it worked for them both the first time around, and figures it was the push he needed.
